Diocese of Perth 2014 Synod – President’s Charge

The Third Session of the Forty-Eighth Synod of the Diocese of Perth was held on the weekend of 4 & 5 October at All Saints’ College in Bull Creek.

ABM’s Executive Director, the Reverend John Deane, preached at the Synod Eucharist and led Bible Study on the Saturday morning.

In his opening address, the Most Reverend Roger Herft, Archbishop of Perth, reminded members of Synod that they were “bound, not by a voluntary compact (an expression of human self-will) but by our call into the mystery of God’s Holy Being the Holy and Eternal Trinity.”

He touched on a wide range of issues including community, the Diocesan Mission Plan, refugees, asylum seekers and children in detention, the crisis in the Middle East and the environment.
