2016 Kenya Projects

In Kenya, communities face many challenges such as harsh climate conditions, poverty, high unemployment, civil unrest and violence.

Since 2009 ABM has been working in partnership with the Anglican Development Services Eastern – ADSE – (formerly Ukamba Christian Community Services (UCCS), the development arm of the Anglican Church of Kenya.

ADSE was established in 1983 and has been implementing community development projects in the country’s arid and semi-arid lands for many years. Their work aims to improve the livelihoods of communities, making them more resilient to the effects of climate change. The Wanzauni Livelihood Improvement project is an integrated one covering areas such as food security, water and sanitation, micro enterprise development, HIV/AIDS awareness, and environmental conservation.

ABM works with the Dioceses of Machakos and Mukueni, mainly in community development, and in the Diocese of Bungoma.

The Right Reverend Joseph Kanuku, former Bishop of Machakos, says, “According to John 10:10, Jesus came so that we may have life and life in abundance. When we have life in abundance, there’s no starvation so we have eternal life and we have life here on earth.”

He hopes that the partnership between ABM and the Church will grow and continue to bring transformation into the lives of people as there is much more work to be done in Kenya
