On Friday 15th September, the Anglican Board of Mission held its annual Board and Supporters’ Dinner at the Union, University and Schools Club in Sydney.
The guest speaker was the Revd Victor Joseph (pictured with Board member Debra Saffrey-Collins), Principal of Wontulp-Bi-Buya Theological College in Cairns, Queensland, a project which ABM has supported for many years. Fr Victor gave an insight into his personal life and work at the college. He spoke very passionately about the college and of the importance of providing support for the teachers and students, some of whom travel long distances to attend their courses.
The evening was a great opportunity to meet and catch up with many familiar faces, and also a chance for the ABM Board and staff to thank their loyal supporters. The ABM National Auxiliary Conference was also held in the same week so it was a pleasure to see some of the members at the dinner.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of ABM’s Coaldrake Award which was given to six recipients in acknowledgement of their past and present service to ABM in various capacities and over many years. Most were ex-missionaries, ex-staff and still active members of the Auxiliary or Committees. ABM Chair Bishop Garry Weatherill presented the silver medal to Julianne Stewart, Howard and Tricia Graham, Denise Wilson, Colleen Hodge and Judy Howarth.
ABM would like to thank all who attended, contributed and made the evening a success.
