Fr Hosam Naoum consecrated as the Coadjutor Bishop of Jerusalem

Yesterday at 4.00pm local time, the Very Rev Dr Hosam Naoum was consecrated in St George’s Cathedral as the Coadjutor Bishop of Jerusalem.

Fr Hosam was consecrated by the Archbishop in Jerusalem, the Most Rev Suheil Dawani, along with participation of bishops from the Anglican Communion and in the presence of some of the Heads of Churches of Jerusalem.

Due to the circumstances related to the Coronavirus pandemic, attendance was limited to some of the clergy, the family of the bishop-elect, and a few official guests, so that the attendance did not exceed fifty people in order to maintain the safety, health standards, and regulations related to the pandemic.

Archbishop Suheil said, ‘It had been hoped that the attendance would be greater and more comprehensive so that many people could have joined together in prayer and celebration of the new bishop. However, the exceptional circumstances in which our world lives in general, and the Middle East region in particular, prevented our faithful brothers and sisters in other parts of our beloved diocese from participating.’
