September 2016
Tim Swifte, member of the ABM Tasmania Committee, has sent us the following news story:
Bishop Richard Condie celebrating the Eucharist. |
On 13th September the ABM Auxiliary held their Annual General Meeting at St Marks, Bellerive. Bishop Richard Condie celebrated the Eucharist, and then chaired the AGM.
In her Annual Report, President Ann Swifte expressed concern on the future of the Tasmania Auxiliary. Members are aging and the traditional fundraising role is becoming more difficult. Even with this difficulty, the Auxiliary has contributed significantly to the 2016 ABM National Auxiliary Project – Sustainable Livelihoods Program in Kenya. As usual, Tasmania contributes more per head than most dioceses.
Judy Goede has been Secretary of the Tasmania Auxiliary for more than twenty years and Bishop Richard presented her with Life Membership. She spoke of her long and faithful service to her Church and to ABM.
President Ann Swifte thanked Bishop Richard for his attendance and celebrations, and presented him with a copy of the book “Blooming Miracle”, a history of the National ABM Auxiliary, written by Moya Holle.
Individuals may affiliate with the Auxiliary as can any parish group. In the past many guilds and other parish organisations have affiliated with the Auxiliary but there has been a decline in these organisations. Individuals or group leaders may affiliate by contacting Ann Swifte at 6 Billett Court, Sorell 7172.
Congratulations Judy and thank you from all at ABM for your dedication and support!
