Prayers for St Jude’s Lygon St after devastating fire

October 23, 2014

On 18th October, St Jude’s Anglican Church on Lygon Street in Melbourne caught fire in the early morning. It took nearly 50 firefighters with thirteen fire trucks almost an hour to bring the fire under control.

There was extensive damage to the roof, windows and basement, and it is estimated that the damage bill will be more than $500,000.

The cause of the fire is being investigated at present.

The parish have had to find alternative venues in which to continue their services and have adopted the catchcry, “Our Building may have burnt but we’re still on fire”.

ABM’s prayers are with all those who have been affected by this devastating event and we ask you to keep St Jude’s in your prayers as they seek to rebuild.
