Kenya: Youth and Sunday School Empowerment into Worship update

June 2017

ABM partners with the Anglican Church of Kenya to deliver the The Youth and Sunday School Empowerment into Worship project. This project provides leadership training to youth leaders and Sunday School teachers in Kenya, equipping them for the work of the ministry.

Following on from the success of last years’ conferences, another round of trainings was held on 24th and 28th April 2017. The goal was to reach those areas of Machakos and Makueni Dioceses that missed out on the conferences last year, which drew much attention and praise.

Since worship was one of the key objectives of the conferences, both were formally opened with a Holy Communion Service, by Bishop Joseph Mutungi of Machakos, and Bishop Francis Matui of Makueni.

The main theme was taken from Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your Word.”

The conference slogan was Walk the Talk.

Worship sessions were also enjoyed during the daily morning devotions, evening epilogue and youth revival nights. The key note addresses by the Diocesan Bishops encouraged the youth and children to be engaged in programs that empower them into worship and ongoing spiritual formation.

In total, 757 girls and boys attended the two conferences, learning about topics such as faith, Anglicanism, healthy relationships and conflict resolution, personal development and the environment.

During the course of the events, 62 participants accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, 108 Environment clubs were formed, and 1000 trees were planted.

The official closing of the conferences was also done by the Diocesan Bishops. They urged the young people to implement what they have learnt and, more importantly, tell their friends the good news of the Gospel.

ABM would like to thank all our supporters who gave to this important work. You prayers and donations has enabled more children and youth to hear the Good News, further extending the Kingdom of God on earth.
