Last Friday, ABM staff had the pleasure of meeting the Ven Canon Kistos Khisa, Managing Director of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Children’s (CGS) Program in Kenya which is supported by ABM. He was accompanied by Fr John and Kaye Corner, the Australian CGS Link Trainers.
Canon Khisa gave an interesting presentation on the CGS program which is now also in Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan, with plans to expand to Tanzania, Burundi and the Congo.
Fr John demonstrated how the CGS materials are used in classes for three different age groups or levels. A packable atrium has been developed so that it can be set up anywhere, without the need for a classroom or permanent space.
It was very encouraging to hear how the Holy Spirit, through this program, is healing many of the children who have experienced violence and atrocities in their short lives.
Canon Khisa visited several Sudanese congregations, including Quakers Hill Anglican Church, on Sunday before returning home to Kenya this week.
