2018 Project Book

2018 Project Book

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 2018 edition of ABM’s Project Book, bringing to you the work of ABM and its Partners here in Australia and overseas.

Within the Project Book, you will find a range of projects which express ABM and the Church’s vocation to share in God’s mission. The spectrum of activities is diverse as ABM seeks to follow Jesus and engage at the margins of human existence where the Holy Spirit calls to the Church.

Last year ABM once again completed the accreditation process of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). This check of ABM’s practice and financial systems occurs every five years. It is hard work and a rigorous process and it was very pleasing to see ABM smoothly make the grade once more.

Although accreditation and the Australian Council for International Development’s (ACFID) Code of Conduct are focused on ABM’s community development and emergency relief work, over the years they have had a significant impact on all ABM’s work. Concern for the actual value ABM adds, the effectiveness of what we do and its sustainability, respectful relationships with our partners and transparency with our donors has become a part of all programs and projects we undertake.

The benefits which flow from this are numerous and significant.

All the projects strive to witness to the transforming love of God and consequently bear the “marks of mission”. They are created through partnership and seek to be inclusive and life-giving.

Where possible their goal is to remedy or alleviate the actual causes of need and injustice to provide
sustainable change and benefits.

Consequently, with pride and confidence in what ABM is able to achieve, I would like to ask you to consider supporting one or more of our projects over the next 12 months.

Such support may take a number of forms – through giving, prayer and making the work known to others.

Whether you support ABM individually or collectively through your diocese, parish or school, I would like
to thank each of you, for the support that you have provided to ABM and our Partners last year.

I hope that you will be inspired by the work of our Partners and continue to give thanks to God for their
faithfulness.

May you have a blessed and prosperous 2018.

Yours in Christ

John Deane
ABM Executive Director
