ABMA Luncheon on Sunday 26 June, 2016

Once again the five Anglican Parishes in the southern-most part of the North Queensland Diocese have held their ABMA Luncheon.

The event has been held each year since the 1970’s and originated at Holy Trinity Mackay.  It was later moved to St Charles West Mackay, where the hall, kitchen and supper room make an excellent venue. The other parishes include St Ambrose North Mackay, Pioneer Valley and Sarina.

The target for the last few years has been a donation of $2,000 and this year $2,200 was raised.

The lunch component has changed several times over the years but our guests are all given something delicious and inexpensive.

The main fund-raising is from the raffle and the cent sale.

During the meal we have offered a variety of guest speakers with personal knowledge of the work of ABM, but for the last two years we have been assisted by ABM’s Committee Support Officers with DVDs to show on the large overhead screen. The main fund-raising is from the raffle and the cent sale.

One representative from each of the five parishes form an organising committee to ensure the preparation is on track and that everything runs smoothly on the day, the guests are well fed, and the workload is shared by many willing hands.
