July 2018
ABM’s Provincial Committee in Adelaide held a very successful fundraising dinner at St Peter’s Anglican Church in Glenelg on Friday 27 July, 2018.
The evening began with guests mingling in the beautiful interior of St Peter’s church and a greeting by Bishop Chris McLeod, the National Aboriginal Bishop and Chair of ABM’s South Australian Provincial Committee.
The event was well attended with about 100 people who enjoyed the buffet dinner and warm hospitality provided by staff and helpers of the parish.
The guest speakers at the dinner were the Rt Rev Cameron Venables, Bishop Western Region in the Diocese of Brisbane, the Rt Rev John Stead, Bishop of Willochra, and the Rev Christy Capper (lecturer in Missiology).
The Rev John Deane, ABM’s Executive Director, asked each of the guest speakers to talk about Mission in Context and afterwards a Q&A session was held where people were encouraged to engage with the speakers.
One of the highlights was Bishop Cameron, or Bishop Cam as he is known, entertaining the audience with a few of his own songs which were thought provoking.
All in all, it was a great night of seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones especially since ABM’s annual Diocesan Representatives Conference was also being held at St Peter’s Glenelg. The conference was a great opportunity for our representatives from around the different dioceses, as well as staff, to meet together to discuss and share, and to worship together.
ABM would like to thank the Rev Andrew Mintern and his parish for their wonderful hospitality, and the SA Provincial Committee on a job well done in organising the event. We are grateful to everyone who attended and made the evening memorable.
