Anti-Poverty Week 2018

 Anti-poverty week 2018

Poverty and severe hardship affect more than a million Australians. Around the world more than a billion people are desperately poor.

Anti-Poverty Week is a week where all Australians are encouraged to organise or take part in an activity aiming to highlight or overcome issues of poverty and hardship here in Australia or overseas.  It was established in Australia as an expansion of the UN’s annual International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17.

ABM supports and promotes Anti-Poverty Week in order to help fight poverty and hardship wherever it exists, in accordance with our 3rd Mark of Mission: “Stand in Solidarity with the Poor and Needy”.

Read the story of Lena Mueni, whose life has been transformed through an ABM project specifically designed to alliveate poverty for women in rural Kenya.
